Two environments on one block

Most Hardys Bay properties have the bay in front and bushland behind, so a roof here is dealing with both at once:

• From the water: corrosion at fasteners, brackets, flashings and the gutter trough, concentrated in sheltered unwashed areas.
• From the bush: continuous leaf and bark drop packing valleys and gutter mouths, which then hold salty damp against the metal rather than letting it dry.
